The music of your youth.
What did you 'cut your teeth' to when it comes to music? I was talking to my birds daughtet (24 and no) and i was saying where she grew up with Bieber, Marrs,Beyomce etc i was getting my thrills lustening to Led Zep,the Who, Bowie (ziggy era) and many others. I know every generation has its idols but i really do think my lot (50 plus) really did get the very best.

Feel free to disagree kids.

Jazz, funk and soul of the 70s. I liked a bit of disco but the more dirtier end of the grooves tickled my fancy more. I also listened to a lot of big band Jazz and seing and all kinds of fusion.
Set me up for a great career in music.

Began as a kid listening to Sweet and T. Rex, then got into Led Zep, Rush, Sabbath, Van Halen etc, and you're right we did have the best music to grow up with... we might be old but we saw all the cool bands!

I came of age in the 80's/90's and considered myself spoiled rotten for outstanding music...

Where to start?
House of Love, My Bloody Valentine, The Associates, Ride, Cocteau Twins, New Order, Smiths - I could go on forever but one band really did it for me...

Suede

They had everything you could wish from a band - they could rock out or come up with a ballad that left a tear in the eye

Loud, Sleazy, Sexy, Romantic and one of the greatest partnerships in Rock - Anderson and Butler

The Damned, Ramones, Pistols then got into electronic music via Human League, OMD, Kraftwerk and then metal as I liked Motorhead.

My brother (and hero) was a massive muso. I cut my teeth on Ska, The Jam, Motown, funk as well as The Beatles, Kinks and Spencer Davis Group and then later dance and 80's soul. I feel i was incredibly lucky to have had him in my.life and the music he intruduced me to.

I did read the NME/Melody Maker but my favourite was Record Mirror (I was a bit of a geek) and later Select

Used to listen to a lot of pop music in my teens, Joe Brown, The Tornadoes and late on the Kinks and Dionne Warwick. I sort of stopped at about 17/18 years of age and gradually became more interested in classical music.

There were some excellent journalists back then...it was always a thrill to know that somebody who was able to write was able to articulate what you felt about a band...

I saw them at the Town and Country Club (Now Forum, Kentish Town) in 1992 but I also saw them in a venue in Stoke Newington about a year before - I can't remember the name but it was just past the station going up Stamford Hill.

The new album sounds like it is going to be their best for years...if the single is anything to go by
